And yesterday afternoon, as I was sorting my filing cabinet and tidying up my paperwork for the day, the answer finally came. It dropped, almost literally, into my lap.

There were three files left on the desk in front of me. Yours was in the center.

One minute, I looked up at the three files and then down at the file in my lap (the alphabetization process is sometimes confusing, and I didn’t want to slot anything in the wrong spot in my cabinet – so I was checking my work).

The next minute, I looked back up in shock at the sound of a soft but sudden thud.

Right in front of my eyes, I saw a beautiful ornamental Arabic lantern in the center of the desk that had definitely not been there seconds before.

It took me a second, but I quickly recognized it for what it was – the Lantern of Inner Luminosity, sitting right on top of your file.

Cementing its connection to you and only you.

I knew then that the astral universe had sent me what I needed, and I went to bed peacefully, knowing I’d be able to write to you today and share this excellent news.

And here I am.

But there is a generally agreed upon origin story…

Long ago, in the bowels of a grand but unwelcoming black stone castle, working in service of an ungrateful royal family, there was a peasant girl named Bia. Bia was not yet an adult, but already, at 13, she had become well-accustomed to the daily working grind.

One night, Bia couldn’t sleep. She snuck into the kitchen for a sip of ale to ease her aching bones and instead found a lantern in the middle of the room. It was utterly out of place, but it seemed to call to her.

She picked it up.

And it seemed to tell her where to go.

She traveled out of the castle that night and saw so many things she could never have imagined from her previous confines.

Rolling green fields and friendly masticating cows. Bustling streets filled with laughing drunks, nightwalkers and all manner of troublemakers. A whole world she was cut off from, ensconced in the castle walls.

As dawn approached, the lantern began to flicker, and Bia rushed it back to the castle and left it where she found it.

But the next night, it was back. And the next night. And the next night. And the next.

So Bia kept traveling, adventuring and discovering.

As she did, her inner confidence grew. Her fire burned bright. She sparkled with excitement, energy and self-belief, and the people around her (in her work at the castle and in her nighttime wanderings) responded positively.

Eventually, Bia realized the lantern wasn’t just lighting her way and enabling her to see – it was lighting her up. It was helping her to hold onto her personal power, teaching her self-belief and self-adoration.

Her inner luminosity was increasing and regenerating.

In time, Bia escaped her peasant life with the help of the Lantern. She became a swashbuckling, highly successful pirate.
