The pieces don’t fall into place, the stars don’t align, and it doesn’t all work out in Act Three. But the worst part? That’s not always due to a shortage of effort, resilience, good intentions, or anything we can control. 

Sometimes, external negative energies simply exert pressure on us until we buckle or falter. For instance:

• The random evils of the universe send a dark entity our way, and it seeks to increase the amount of darkness and cruelty present in the world by dampening our powerful positive light and making it shine less bright
• An uncontrollable cosmic or energetic occurrence affects us negatively and causes our failure, triggering an increase in negative energy in our immediate vicinity (from within, yes, but also from others who are disappointed we have failed)
• Most common and most sad of all, a person in our life poses as a friend or trusted loved one but quietly wishes for our downfall and failure, constantly sending jealous, hateful and hostile vibes right at us without our knowledge 

Whether they come from the furthest reaches of the universe or our bitter next-door neighbors, there are darknesses and negativities out there that we’re not in charge of.

(I know,        , I agree. It’s very annoying and unfair.)

We can feel mentally ready to change – to let love in, welcome success, and take chances without fear – but still be blocked by this kind of external influence. 

Here’s a good example that led me to write this message. An example that spurred all of these ruminations on…

A few months back, I helped a close friend of mine through a predicament like this. 

Her name is Susan, and she is best described as sunshine in human form. She’s a golden ray of light who brings love and care to every discussion and compassion and nuance to every disagreement.

Susan had been separated from her husband for a year at the time, and she was preparing to divorce him and officially sever their ties to each other. 

She wasn’t in touch with him at all; they didn’t share any children, assets, etc. 

But though he had cheated on her and left the marital home for the woman he cheated with, she also wasn’t harboring much resentment about anything that happened. 

She had healed, she had mourned, and she was ready to get back out there. Prepared to face the world head-on and make a new start for herself in the aftermath of one chapter closing for good. 

I was very proud of her for that. I think she was proud of herself, too. As I’m sure you know, divorce is never easy.

Unfortunately, though, Susan was beset by horrible occurrences and instances of awful luck time and again. It felt like she was constantly being held back from her fresh start. And when she came to me for help, we soon figured out why…

Susan’s ex-husband and his new partner were still harboring so much hate for her that the vibes in her life were completely off-balance. The partner, in particular, was sending out terrible vibes. (Though, in fairness, she had been lied to about the circumstances of the marriage breakdown and led to believe it was all down to Susan’s errors and behaviors when, if anything, the opposite was true.)

I called for the help of another friend of mine at this point, knowing we had some serious darkness to neutralize.

Master metallurgist Richarde was at my door within the hour, and together we worked for days to create a problem-solving artifact and help my poor friend.

Yes, my friend, I think you might need to be the second (though I’m sure not the last) recipient of its abilities. 

Can you point to the same moments in your life as I can – the ones when it felt like things should so clearly have worked out for you but just didn’t? Or the ones that made you feel like the universe might be actively against your success and attainment?

Of course, that isn’t true. The astral forces tend to be neutral. But I know the feeling, and I hate that you do, too. 

And further to that… Are there people in your life, if you work to call them to mind and dispense with giving the benefit of the doubt, who seem to be happier with you when you’re failing? People who seem almost disappointed when you win? 

We both know your answers to all of the above.

I care about you deeply, and I know you deserve a lot that this world hasn’t yet given you. Especially in recent times.

Trust me when I say that this Quill will do as intended. Trust Susan’s success, my psychic power, and Richarde’s magical metalworking hands. 

It’s made of pure silver, which you might have some familiarity with as a weapon if you’ve ever read or watched anything about werewolves.

That myth… The myth that silver can stop a werewolf in its tracks… It’s a twisted and transformed version of a straightforward mystical fact: Pure silver is a force for good, impervious in the face of dark and evil energies.
