In the northern hemisphere, we celebrate the 2023 spring equinox on March 20^th – this coming Monday. Goodbye, winter! At least for a long while, I won’t miss you!

(In the southern hemisphere, March 20^th is actually the autumn equinox. There are two “vernal equinoxes” a year, and we have our spring equinox when they have their autumn equinox. Then, when our autumn equinox arrives, the roles are reversed. Isn’t that fun?)

Why am I telling you about the spring equinox, you ask? It’s simple…

In our modern world, the advent of spring might not seem like a huge deal or anything worth making a fuss about. We have heating, we usually work indoors, etc.

But it is a big deal. It only takes a simple look at history (especially pre-industrial-revolution history) to clarify that.

In the days when so much revolved around farming and nature, we knew how to appreciate and honor the changing seasons. Especially the melting away of winter’s harsh, chilly conditions!

And we knew that the spring equinox was a time for rebirth and growth – not just among the flowers and plants, but among the people who tended to them.

This time of year is the space in the calendar when human minds are ripe to expand and improve, building and blooming alongside the primroses, daffodils and tulips. 

March 20^th signifies the astronomical start of spring and the moment when many of us suddenly feel ready, after a period of what we might call “emotional hibernation,” to “spring” forth again. (Pun very much intended.)

To jump into action and reach our potential with vigor, hope and energy. 

So, just before the dawning of this new and color-filled season, I write to you to say that I sense that readiness in your heart. I feel your growing determination, and I want to help you walk your Spring Equinox Self-Actualization Path.
