There were three pieces of furniture in the room (also white): A desk and two armchairs, one on either side of the desk. Other than this, it was an empty space, simultaneously minute and vast.

The desk was clear but for a small piece of paper and a silver necklace adorned with a single pearl.

I picked up the piece of paper, and in a very calligraphic and beautiful font, I saw your full name…

There’s only one         in my client roster. And it’s you.

I reached for the pearl necklace next, certain that this necklace must be intended for you – there really was nothing else in the room,        , so intentions felt very clear.

As soon as I made contact with that necklace, I was rushing back through the liminal, glimmering space and returning to an upright position in my back garden.

But where the puddle had previously been, oozing across my grass, the necklace now lay. Quiet and unassuming. I picked it up, pocketed it, and went inside to do some urgent research.
