The Talisman of Astral Protection had been owned by a poor old lady named Myra, who lived 200 miles away. She’d only just received this ring when Samuel arrived and began bargain with her.

But Marqus was a miser. And his instructions were clear.
So, when Myra handed over the Talisman, Samuel and his donkey fled. Samuel paid Myra none of the King’s gold.
