Ritual recipe two

Protection

There are many occasions when this tough world isn’t kind to us,        . However, with the energies of the Twelve Rituals of Christmas on your side, you will have the power to shield yourself against mental and spiritual harm.

Here are some examples of when you will find this ritual useful:

  • Before a difficult conversation that could potentially lead to confrontation
  • During a challenging professional or personal project
  • If you can sense someone you’re spending a lot of time with has bad intentions
  • When something traumatic, such as a bereavement or break-up, seems to be on the horizon
  • If you are physically or mentally exhausted

To bring yourself spiritual protection in your times of need, here is what you need to do:

  1. I’d like you to find an item that represents comfort and safety for each of your senses – taste, smell, touch, sight, and sound. For example, I’d choose a weighted blanket (touch), a jasmine-scented candle (smell), hot buttered toast (taste), an image of my beloved mother (sight) and my favourite song (sound).
  2. Gather the items around you and make sure they’re activated so your senses can actively engage with them. By this I mean, if you have chosen a candle, make sure it is lit or make sure the blanket is spread across your lap.
  3. In turn, dedicate one minute to evoking safety and comfort through each of your senses. Sniff the object that awakens your sense of smell, enjoying the warm memories it evokes. Savor the taste of a time when you felt secure. If you like, you can spend more than one minute on each step – but I know you’re a busy person.
  4. Once you are surrounded by the sense of safety, I want you to lie down on your back. Allow all of your muscles to relax completely and let your mind empty. When you feel completely at ease, wrap your arms around yourself and give yourself a great big hug!
  5. As you hold the embrace, repeat the following words 15 times:

“I am safe. I am sound. There is no spiritual danger to be found.”

When you feel ready, stand up and return to your day. The only thing I ask you to do now? Throw open the windows in your home to let any pathetically lingering negativity see itself out!
